Noble Confident Sirrio Can Step up in the Listed Mudoch Newell

Matamata trainer Lance Noble hopes his smart juvenile Sirrio (<W>) can make it two from two when he contests the Listed $60,000 Murdoch Newell Stakes 2yo 1100m at Counties tomorrow.

The Captain Rio gelding looked smart winning both his trials prior to his impressive debut victory at Ellerslie at the end of last month.

Noble said he couldn't be happier with the way Sirrio (<W>) had come through his first race and that he was right on target for Saturday's assignment.

"He has trained on well, has a good draw which helps and more importantly a lot of ability," Noble told Westbury Stud.

Noble added he was impressed with Sirrio's professional attitude, noting all he did was work, eat and sleep.

Safely through the race Sirrio would then head to the Eclipse Stakes at Ellerslie on Boxing Day as a lead in to the prestigious Karaka Million.

Tomorrow Cameron Lammas will again take the reins.
