Faltaat's Son Gives Another Great Sight

Sight Winner again made his presence felt in top company in Hong Kong last night with a bold second in the Gr 2 International Mile Trial at Sha Tin. The Westbury Stud-bred and sold son of Faltaat's latest effort has taken his career earnings to more than $2.3 million.

Bought out of the Karaka farm's 2005 Premier Sale consignment by Queensland agent John Foote for $60,000, Sight Winner has seven wins and seven placings from 26 starts with his career highlight a Gr 1 victory earlier this year in the Champions' Mile.

Prepared by John Size and ridden by Douglas Whyte, the six-year-old was beaten less than a length last night by Fellowship and led in Gr 1 winners Good Ba Ba, Able One and Egyptian Ra in the metric mile feature - a race he also finished runner-up in last year. Sight Winner is a grand-son of the Gr 2 AJC St Leger winner and three-time Gr 1 placegetter Duanette's Girl.

Meanwhile, past and present Westbury stallions enjoyed success at the Counties meeting at the weekend with Elnadim's top-quality daughter Culminate winning the Gr 2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes at Pukekohe. Talented juvenile Sirrio became the latest black-type performer for resident sire Captain Rio with a brave second in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes.
