Sha Tin Success For Westbury Graduate
Monday, Dec 7, 2009
A Walk In The Park broke his duck in Hong Kong last night with a decisive maiden victory at Sha Tin. The Faltaat four-year-old was a worthy winner as he had placed in all five of his previous starts for trainer John Size.
The gelding, who had trialled twice in New Zealand earlier this year, was a $28,000 New Zealand Bloodstock purchase out of Westbury Stud's Carnival Sale draft in 2007. He is from the Crested Wave mare Awave, who is a half-sister to the dam of Gr 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner The Pooka.
Meanwhile, Faltaat's dependable son Our Boy Lukas furthered his Australian record yesterday when he was successful at Wyong. He has now posted two wins and five placings from his 10 career starts for trainer Joseph Pryde.
The five-year-old is a younger half-brother to Westbury graduate Our Lukas, the dual Listed winner of the Ipswich Cup and the Brisbane Handicap. They are out the winning Gold Brose mare Parfore, who is sister to Nishaani - dam of champion filly and Gr 1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes winner Il Quello Veloce.
Westbury will offer Il Quello Veloce's sister at Karaka in February, as well as an O'Reilly colt from Golden Sparkle, who is a sister to Parfore and Nishaani.
